We are seeking a nurturing, dedicated individual who adores kids and has a strong background in teaching them in a classroom environment. Our ideal candidate will be patient, compassionate and well-versed in the field of early childhood education. A successful candidate will work one-on-one with students as well as in a group setting and must be able to coordinate multiple class activities simultaneously. Must be registered with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Education and with good standing.
Responsibilities:
Teach young children by providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to prepare for school.
Communicate with other staff members.
Know the rules, regulations and laws related to early childhood teaching and schools.
Know how to teach young children about the world around them.
Help young children develop their physical, intellectual, social/emotional and language skills.
Teach young children to be prepared for school.
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
May supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants.

Pay: $19.00-$23.86 per hour
