We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Care Aide to provide high-quality personal and supportive care to residents in a long-term care or assisted living setting. As a Registered Care Aide, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment while assisting residents with their daily activities and health needs.
Duties
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to support health assessments.
Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities within electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments through tailored approaches that promote comfort and safety.
Support residents during meal preparation and feeding to ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
Utilize assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids to promote safe transfers and prevent injuries.
Engage in behavior management techniques to address challenging behaviors compassionately while maintaining dignity.
Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas in accordance with health standards; perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans.
Support residents' social engagement by encouraging participation in activities that promote mental and emotional well-being.
Assist with transportation or driving responsibilities for appointments or outings when required.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols including first aid procedures to ensure resident safety at all times.
Skills
Proven experience in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes.
Strong knowledge of assisted living practices, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and memory care techniques.
Familiarity with working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support.
Ability to accurately monitor vital signs and recognize signs of health deterioration.
Experience with medication administration following prescribed protocols within regulated environments.
Proficiency in using EMR systems for documentation purposes.
Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to diverse resident needs.
Knowledge of behavior management strategies for residents experiencing cognitive decline or behavioral challenges.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical stamina and strength necessary for assisting residents with mobility tasks using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment.
