Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world. : Reporting to the VP, Business Development, Group Retirement Service, the Regional Vice President provides overall market management in the province of Quebec by leading a team of highly engaged sales and client relationship executives. The incumbent develops internal and community relationships to establish themselves as a senior leader in the market with all stakeholders. The role is accountable for the target achievement in key business metrics including sales, persistency and profitability. Major Accountabilities

  • Leads, manages and coaches a team of Business Development, Client Relationship Executives and Account Managers to execute on regional sales, persistency, profitability and expense management targets. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives and works under the broad supervision of the Vice President, Business Development
  • Accountable for the leadership of the team ensuring performance management, development, coaching and mentoring occurs to enhance regional success, high performance culture and employee engagement
  • Accountable for developing and managing effective, focused relationships with clients and consultants, ensuring our client’s needs are always top of mind while considering the financial implications of the decisions you make
  • Contributing to the development of the GRS business strategy by bringing market intelligence and region specific challenges and opportunities to the Business Development Leadership Team agenda – you are expected to be the voice of the customer, the advisor and the business within our organisation
  • Ensures sales force capability through building necessary skills/competencies/accreditations to meet market needs
  • Create and maintain a market presence for GRS within your region through relationship development and participation in a variety of regional and national GRS forums
What do you need to succeed?
  • Strong understanding of GRS business (10+ years), products (pension/savings), services, industry/competitive dynamics
  • Previous management experience - including managing sales and relationship functions
  • Broad knowledge of SLF Corporate and Canadian strategy
  • Strong market relationships with advisors, plan sponsors and consultants
  • Superior communication skills – both written and oral
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills working with cross functional teams within and across divisions
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of sales leadership, people management and sales management experience
  • Bilingualism (French, English) required- immediate manager is a unilingual Anglophone outside Quebec
  • Entrepreneurial / business developer mindset
  • Superior time management and organizational abilities
  • Strong people management skills; able to assemble and manage a new team of people
  • Proven ability to lead through change
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory and compliance issues
