RIMAP opened the first AC Hotels Marriott brand in Canada with the AC Hotels Marriott MONTREAL DOWNTOWN hotel. RIMAP will open its second AC Hotels Marriott Ottawa Downtown / Centre Ville in 2024.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Regional Controller will report directly to RIMAP\'s Regional Controller, with a dotted-line (functional) reporting relationship to the property General Manager and will be an integral member of the property executive committee. Responsible for effectively managing the day-to-day operation of the Finance Division through the execution of accounting responsibilities for the region and property. This person will be responsible for processing the payroll, performing the income audit as well as administering, guiding, developing, and assisting in controlling overall accounting and financial activities of the hotel. Implementation and management of controls and procedures with appropriate follow up. Assist in planning, directing, and managing the provision of accurate, timely, and objective financial data from which informed management decisions will be made. Recommend remedial action when and where necessary. Provide daily assistance and perform administrative duties to support the achievement of the Accounting Department goals.

Education and Experience

  • University degree or College Diploma/certificate in accounting preferred; 4 years\' experience in hotel accounting, management operations, or related professional area.
PREFERRED:
  • Minimum of 5 years hotel accounting management experience required.
  • Exceptional knowledge of governmental regulations and safety standards (ESA, OOHS).
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory controls, supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect each department.
  • Good working knowledge of hotel computer systems, including Excel, Delphi, Micros, Word, Micro\'s, Employeur D.
  • Bilingualism (English & French) a definite asset.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
  • Establish and implement annual objectives, budget, and programs for the Finance Department in conjunction with the hotel\'s strategic plan.
  • Protect owner\'s interest in the hotel assets and operations.
  • Manage the hotel accounting department, information and internal control systems and hotel finances in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Provide accurate and complete financial and management reports on a timely basis to the hotel management team, Corporate Office, and owners, in accordance with the Company and ownership reporting requirements and policy.
  • Provide strong technical expertise and direction to the development of the annual business plan and strategic plan, operating budget, forecasts, financial reports, capital expenditure budget and profit loss statements.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze P&L statements to ensure the management group is adhering to established spending guidelines.
  • Develop annual operating budgets, prepare short & long-term forecasts and commentary.
  • Prepare income audit for hotel, auditing all income transactions, prepare daily revenue flash labour report.
  • Process payroll, reconcile gratuities, prepare journal entries, generate reports, payment requisitions for payroll related items.
  • Payroll accruals, account reconciliations, financial statement review and other month end processes including forecasting.
  • Government reconciliations for WSIB, EI, T-4\'s.
  • Management of internal controls and self-assessed internal audits.
  • Advise leadership of any violations from policy.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate billing of current and aged accounts with efficient follow-up procedures.
  • Inspect all in-house accounts to ensure adherence to the hotels\' credit policy and assist with the collection efforts of these accounts.
  • Bill and collect all non-trade receivables (Marriott Rewards, third party, intercompany receivables) for the Hospitality properties.
  • Review daily income audit to ensure entries are accurate, complete, and balanced.
  • Post payments and wires to the account daily.
  • Research and resolve guest inquiries, credit card disputes and billing disputes.
  • Trace all NSF cheques and credit card chargebacks.
  • Process credit applications and investigate fully all requests for billing.
  • Reviewing, preparing, and posting monthly journal entries.
  • Assist with month end process and other duties, including AR/ House Account Reports, monthly balance sheet account reconciliation, spot-check inventories, float counts, utility accounting.
  • Conduct monthly audits of accounting processes and practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Support operational team in monthly and quarterly inventory counts and reconcile report.
  • Ensure that all documentation relating to purchasing and receiving is completed and adequately confirms the related transaction.
  • Loss prevention - detect and identify potential shrink opportunities within the operational framework of the business and provide recommendations to remedy this activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
