Location: Campus Support Centre
Reports To: Refunds Payable Coordinator, Campus Finance Operations
Salary Range: 45 K-50 K
Working Hours: Regular Office hours
Software Knowledge: Working knowledge of MS Office 2000 (Excel, Word, Outlook) PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The purpose of the Refunds Payable Administrator position is to support the efficient operation of the Finance department by completing basic day-to-day accounting functions. Under general supervision, the Refunds Payable Administrator is responsible for the timely and accurate review and data entry of accounting data, completion of routine accounting activities and the preparation of various reports.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

The Refunds Payable Administrator will at various times be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the Company

  • Performing day-to-day administration functions related to Refunds Payable
  • Providing customer service and answering campus inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Review of refund requests to ensure accuracy of calculations based on provincial regulations
  • Printing and mailing out cheques to vendors or campuses and filing supporting documents
  • Completing entry of data into accounting system and logs on a daily basis
  • Maintaining a control log on cheques issued
  • Coordinating with campuses on reconciling differences
  • Following up with Financial Administrators to question any discrepancies in reports and to ensure data is accurate
  • Monitoring business related financial transactions to ensure timely and accurate postings and recordkeeping
  • Keeping up to date with filing
  • Assisting the Finance Operations Director with a variety of duties as required and providing administrative support to all members of the Finance Operations and Accounting department
  • Performing routine clerical duties in various administrative functions
  • Assisting with special projects when required
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: To be successful in the Refunds Payable Administrator position, an individual must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following: Education and Experience:
  • Basic accounting knowledge gained by completing introductory accounting courses and/or one year office/accounting experience
Competencies:
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Strong computer keyboarding/number entry skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 2000 including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, ability to effectively communicate and interact with all individuals with integrity and professionalism
  • A positive attitude and customer focused approach
  • Ability to use various office equipment including fax and photocopy machines
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
  • Ability to complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain concentration while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision
  • Good judgment and ability to prioritize assignments
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
  • Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service
  • Strong integrity, professionalism and work ethic without sacrificing ability to have fun on the job
