Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is recruiting for a highly experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to repair, maintain, and operate refrigeration and air conditioning systems at our Red Deer sites. Using your skills and knowledge of relevant codes and CSA standards, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on chillers (up to 1,000 tons), air handlers, walk-in coolers, refrigerators, ultra-low temperature freezers for medication or vaccine storage, heat pumps, and ice machines. This position works in and out of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and maintains refrigeration systems and other equipment at various other metro sites within the City of Red Deer. While observing FM&E Safe Work procedures and Preventative Maintenance Program and Equipment Operations and Maintenance manuals: repairs and checks all refrigeration units and systems and maintains them in good working order as per the Preventative Maintenance Program. Ensures that all automatic controls on the refrigeration equipment are in good working order. Performs calibrations of temperature logging devices. Performs leak checks. Ensures that all refrigeration equipment is kept up to date. when modified, follow the latest codes, and make recommendations to any new operating procedures, new technical aspects, or changes that may be required. Conducts inventory checks for consumable items. Completes requisitions and/or may purchase supplies and/or equipment. Other duties as assigned. Performs ongoing maintenance work in the area of assigned trade or related responsibility. Working in E-facilities to view demand and preventative maintenance work orders closing out completed work orders within the dedicated time allotted and updating feedback to customer sections.

You will also be required to perform continued preventative maintenance and operational performance checks on air or water cooled systems in accordance with Alberta Health Services standards and practices.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training At least five (5) years experience working directly with light industrial and healthcare refrigeration and air handling systems and a good background in pneumatic and electric controls. Must be able to perform maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration equipment including replacement of defective components such as compressors and heat exchangers. Must be able to perform advanced troubleshooting, brazing, and testing. Must be able to use diagnostic tools such as manometers, combustion analyzers, electrical testers, and refrigerant manifold gauges. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the repair and maintenance of chillers is a definite asset. Gas fitter certification is a definite asset. Building Automation experience is an asset Ozone Depletion Substances (ODS) Certificate Computer skills, knowledge about Microsoft programs, and building maintenance programs.
