Reporting to the Team Lead, Employment Services the Recruitment Officer will be responsible for all aspects of recruiting bus and community shuttle operators for Calgary Transit. Primary duties include:• Screen applicants, pre-employment testing, conduct targeted selection interviews, conduct reference checks, schedule appointments for medicals, make all final applicant selection and job offers, deal with non-selection issues/grievances and otherwise support the entire recruitment process.
• Collaborate with the Team Lead, Employment Services and liaise with Corporate Human Resources, to develop and advertising strategy to recruit bus and community shuttle operators as well as other positions with Calgary Transit.
• Arrange for advertising such as BOLD signs, on system advertising, mail drops, television commercials, banners, Calgary Transit hiring fairs, recruitment booths in LRT stations and other innovative opportunities.
• Represent Calgary Transit at local and international Career Fairs.
• Conduct highly confidential Calgary Police Service (CPS) security clearance interviews with potential applicants to determine employment suitability.
• Conduct City of Calgary and Calgary Transit outreach sessions for various jobs finding organizations, different community groups, and conduct orientation sessions for prospective applicants.
• Establish relationships with other organizations such as post-secondary institutions, vocational schools, and job finding organizations to promote Calgary Transit as an employer.
• Understand and apply all hiring agreements and movement of personnel with regards to the various collective agreements within The City of Calgary.
Qualifications • A high school diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED), supplemented with at least 1 year of related experience.
• Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience with the interpretation and application of collective agreements is required.
• Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is also required.
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources will be considered an asset.
• A general understanding of human rights legislation and experience working with Peoplesoft Human Capital Management (HCM) will also be considered assets.
• Public speaking and presentation skills are considered assets.
• Individuals must be proficient at planning and organizing, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate initiative, and possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
