Position Summary:
The Recruitment and Onboarding Specialist is responsible for managing the full recruitment cycle and designing a smooth, welcoming onboarding experience that reflects the organization's values and diversity commitments. Working closely with hiring managers, the Specialist provides expert guidance on best practices and collaborates on workforce planning to meet evolving staffing needs. They are responsible for maintaining compliance with legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies, while ensuring all candidate and employee interactions are handled with integrity and efficiency. The role requires a strategic thinker who can analyze recruitment trends, develop innovative talent acquisition strategies, and build relationships with external partners. The Specialist leads initiatives that enhance the organization, administers mandatory training, and ensure all processes support a high-quality, inclusive employee experience. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about people, detail-oriented, and committed to fostering a welcoming and equitable workplace.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and post-graduate diploma in Human Resources preferred.
CHRP designation or active pursuit of the designation preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in recruitment, onboarding, or related human resources functions.
Experience working in a not-for-profit or unionized environment is an asset.
Comprehensive knowledge of recruitment best practices and full-cycle hiring processes.
Strong understanding of onboarding strategies that support employee engagement and retention.
Demonstrated knowledge of employment legislation and compliance standards.
Familiarity with collective agreements and how they impact recruitment and onboarding.
Proven ability to implement IDEA principles (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) in recruitment practices.
Experience with workforce planning and aligning recruitment efforts with organizational goals.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective candidate and stakeholder engagement.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Ability to advise hiring managers on recruitment strategies and inclusive hiring practices.
Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms, with attention to data accuracy and confidentiality.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate recruitment metrics and make data-driven decisions.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current on HR trends and technologies.
Required to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector prior to hire.
