Baycrest Hospital has an opportunity for a

RECREATION THERAPIST

PERMANENT FULL TIME

70 Bi-weekly Hours-Days ( Shifts many be subject to change)

OPSEU 595 Hourly Pay Rate \xe2\x80\x93 $31.48-$39.31

At Baycrest Hospital, leisure is an important component of both quality of life and well-being. It allows individuals opportunities for self-determination and utilization of strengths while engaging in meaningful leisure, which is the foundation of Therapeutic Recreation services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Works with the Recreation team to develop therapeutic programs.
• Provides departmental program coverage, including occasional evening and weekend work.
• Develops and coordinates multi-disciplinary programs, as required
• Interviews, orients, supervises and sets expectations with volunteers
• Completes documentation as required
• Attends team meetings
• Attends and contributes to the weekly inter-professional team meeting
• Coordinates services with other staff/departments\\
• Develops and maintains an inventory of program supplies and recruiting entertainers

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Four (4) year Honours Degree in Therapeutic Recreation (\xe2\x80\x98TR\xe2\x80\x99) or Recreation & Leisure Studies with TR specialization preferred; equivalencies will be considered.
• Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (\xe2\x80\x98TRO\xe2\x80\x99).
• Credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (\xe2\x80\x98CTRS\xe2\x80\x99) is an asset
• Previous experience working with frail and cognitively impaired elderly.
• Previous experience in implementation, development and evaluation of recreation programs in a geriatric setting.
• Knowledge of community resources an asset
• Knowledge of Jewish culture, Holy Days and festivals is an asset
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel required
