This position oversees the operation of the Community Centre reception and provides leadership and administrative direction to staff. Additionally, this position is also responsible for facility usage, the planning, implementation and evaluation of both new and on-going community programs and special events. The role works closely with supervisors from other recreation facilities to develop and implement marketing and communication strategies, ensuring the department's programs and services are effectively promoted and aligned with current recreation trends.
Oversees daily operation and administration of the Community Centre.
Supervises and evaluates staff through performance management processes; and facilitates opportunities for learning and growth through training, coaching and mentorship of the administrative team.
Recruits and hires qualified candidates and ensures successful onboarding of new staff.
Assists in developing facility policies and staff operating procedures while collaborating with the team to establish consistent and efficient processes.
Leads the ongoing implementation, development and coordination of the recreation software system; including education and support for staff.
Oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of courses, programs and events.
Directs facility rental and registration procedures.
Analyzes and assesses recreation program requirements, identifying trends, demographics and new techniques to define the recreation services needs of the community.
Oversees the coordination of outdoor sports fields and park spaces.
Evaluates and processes special event applications; and organizes special events as requested by the Chief Administrative Officer or Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture.
Works collaboratively with other departments in the promotion and implementation of City programs, events and initiatives.
Ensures effective marketing of City run programs and events in the community.
Monitors program budgets and contributes to the preparation of annual operating and capital budget pertaining to the operation of the Community Centre.
Maintains a variety of records, reports, correspondence, and schedules as required.
Monitors facility safety and security and identifies the maintenance needs of the facility and equipment.
Supervises janitorial services.
Oversees program equipment and supply inventory.
Performs other related duties as required.
WORKING WITH OTHERS:
This position interacts regularly with supervisor while also working independently within a team setting. In addition to working with staff, this position works with a variety of community service organizations, user groups and program contractors. This position also works collaboratively with other departments and external agencies; and has frequent contact with the public.

Capable of preparing and maintaining records, reports, funding proposals, correspondence, and promotional materials as required for the facility.

Comprehensive working knowledge of computers, computers programs, particularly web-based programs.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Approves invoices for payment based on authorization limit. Accepts and processes payment; prepares and reconciles payment requisition for program contractors; prepares invoices; performs cash out duties and bank deposits as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is primarily based indoors in an office environment, with occasional outdoor work during special events. The workplace is dynamic, often busy and noisy, with frequent interactions with staff and the public. Recreation staff may be required to work on statutory holidays and flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the volunteer community.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Diploma in Recreation Management or another related field.
Five (5) years' progressive experience in direct and indirect program
Two (2) years' supervisory experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
British Columbia Class 5 Drivers License
Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check, Vulnerable Sector.
