Position Summary

The Recreation Representative is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational, social, and wellness activities that promote engagement, inclusion, and quality of life for participants. This role involves supporting daily recreation programs, assisting with event coordination, and fostering a welcoming and positive environment for residents, clients, or community members.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in planning, scheduling, and delivering recreational activities such as games, arts and crafts, fitness classes, cultural events, outings, and social gatherings. Encourage participation and provide support to individuals with varying levels of ability, ensuring inclusivity and safety. Set up, clean, and maintain recreation areas, equipment, and supplies before and after programs. Monitor participants during activities to ensure a safe and positive experience. Collaborate with recreation staff and other departments to enhance programming and resident engagement. Record attendance, gather feedback, and assist with documenting activity outcomes. Support large-scale events, holiday celebrations, and special programs as required. Maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional manner in interactions with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

Diploma or certificate in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field (preferred). Previous experience in recreation, community programming, or working with seniors, children, or individuals with special needs is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage participants. Creative, energetic, and enthusiastic with a passion for enhancing quality of life. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, scheduling systems). CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
