The District of Oak Bay is seeking a Recreation Facilities Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of our recreation facilities. Reporting to the Program Manager, Facilities and Asset Management, the Recreation Facilities Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, repairs, and capital renewal of all District if Oak Bay recreation facilities. The role provides strategic and technical leadership to supervisors, maintenance staff, contractors, and service providers, ensuring facilities are operated safely, cost-effectively, and in alignment with District standards for building systems, energy efficiency, and customer service.
The Manager works closely with the Facilities and Asset Management team, the Recreation Division, and other District departments to plan, operate, maintain, upgrade, and decommission assets across multiple recreation sites.
Our ideal candidate has a technical diploma or degree in a related discipline, post-secondary leadership and team management training, a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience, including five (5) years in a supervisory role, preferably in a unionized municipal or public sector environment, experience with preventative maintenance programs and managing contractors/trades. Training or certification in project or facilities management (Certified Associate in Project Management, Facility Management Professional, Project Management Professional) is considered an asset. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License, Occupational First Aid Level 3 & CPR/AED, TSBC 4th Class or Refrigeration Operator Certification (or higher) and Pool Operator Level 2 Certification are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
