The Receptionist performs a wide variety of administrative tasks and provides both in-person and phone/electronic assistance for patients. It is imperative that as a front-line staff person, the Receptionist acts at all times with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and respect. The Receptionist is responsible for maintaining a peaceful, calm environment in the patient waiting areas.
Primary Responsibilities:
Greet and process all patients. Processing includes ensuring demographic, financial (any direct patient billing), and clinical data has been correctly entered into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Receives patients to the clinic and enters the visit in the EMR.
Maintenance of a clinic database
Answers telephone, triages calls, clears voicemail mailboxes and relays messages.
Directs callers to appropriate services as necessary.
Addresses general inquiries concerning programs within the clinic.
Process payments made to the clinic. Responsible for intake, processing and closing out of daily cash.
Prints and reviews doctors' billing sheets at the end of the day.
Escort patients to ultrasound rooms and provide basic instructions
Provides new and existing patient records (referrals) for each scheduled clinic; includes partial preparation of new charts, stamping of appropriate documents/forms
Locates and forwards health record documents/reports as requested to physicians.
offices and other health care institutions Notify patients of appointment times on weekends ie IUI, laminaria tent insertion, etc.
Reconciliation of daily Payment Summaries as indicated on HealthQuest.
