plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable Hourly rate increased based on number of staff supervised within the program and RECE status

FAMILY SUPPORT FACILITATOR (Part-Time) -EARLYON CENTRE
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 - 6 years.
The EarlyON centre is a child and family centre offering free drop-in centre based, outdoor and virtual programming for caregivers and children from birth to 6 years of age. These programs allow caregivers and children the opportunity to participate in active, play-based learning opportunities together such as storytelling, sing-alongs, creative art experiences and more. Caregivers can also seek and receive advice from Early Childhood professionals while connecting with other families within the community. Programs follow the Ministry of Education pedagogy, How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)
The EarlyON centres operate year-round including during March/Spring Break and in the summer months.

THE POSITION INVOLVES...
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
Providing leadership to the EarlyON staff team and is responsible for the onsite day-to-day operations
Working collaboratively with school administration in providing positive experiences for children and families in the community
Creating and providing a welcoming and inclusive environment where children and families engage in learning through play and inquiry as is consistent with the How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)pedagogy?
Engaging caregivers in conversations that support the positive development of children and provide or referring caregivers to resources and specialized services that will support them
Completing program assessment on an on-going basis
Planning and providing resources and/or events and programs that support the interests and well-being of the families served
Working with program staff to provide programming that is reflective of the culture and unique needs of the children and families attending the program
Modeling and demonstrating positive adult-child interactions for parents and caregivers
Planning adult workshops for caregivers that are relevant to the needs of the families
Collecting and report data on program
Attending workshops, conferences and seminars which promote both professional and personal growth
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE...
An Early Childhood Education Diploma (RECE)
A minimum of 2 years' experience delivering programs to children and families
Demonstrated knowledge of local community resources and services
Experience working with groups of children between the ages of 0 to 6 years and with adults
Strong leadership skills
A positive and sensitive attitude towards children and caregivers
Experience in delivering and coordinating outreach events, workshops and activities especially in multicultural and inclusive environments and within a variety of settings including outdoor, virtual and in the centre.
In-depth knowledge and experience applying play and interest based learning from the How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)pedagogy; is an asset
The ability to communicate effectively in non-judgmental ways with children, parents, community partners, school staff and coworkers;
The ability to adapt to ongoing program changes
A flexible and willing attitude towards lifelong learning and professional development??
Excellent relationship building skills and demonstrated ability to network
Strong research and excellent computer skills
A valid Standard First Aid with Level C CPR certificate
A valid original Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, completed within the last six months
Up-to-date immunization records
The ability to speak another language is an asset
