Summary
We are seeking a team-player to join our organization as an EarlyON Child & Family Support Educator (RECE). This role is a
permanent part-time salaried position at 30 hours per week
and involves some travel between sites. The role is crucial in providing our high quality programs and services for children and families and requires a flexible, passionate Educator with a strong understanding of family support practices, child development and adult education principles.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver
culturally appropriate and inclusive parent/caregivers'
programs
that promote positive adult-child interactions, healthy child development, child guidance techniques and positive parenting strategies
Model
and include parents in understanding
how learning is happening
through play during the program
Communicate
respectfully and responsively with families
Foster opportunities for parents and children to connect with each other and create meaningful peer relationships within the program
Maintain accurate documentation
of attendance sheets, daily logbooks, participant records and program statistics
Facilitate access to community resources and services
Participate in Community and Special Events which support the membership and promote the work of OPCC
Qualifications
Early Childhood Education degree
and a registered member in good standing with the College of ECE
Minimum 2 years' experience working with children and families in a supportive role.
Please note that a combination of educational background (SSW, CYW, OCT, EA) and lived/work experience is welcomed.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Familiarity with community resources available for families.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Valid certificate in
Standard First Aid including infant and Child CPR
Current (within 6 months)
criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screening
