We are looking for an experienced real-time control software architect to lead the research and development of real-time software to control autonomous systems. A strong candidate should have a passion for new control technology and have an exceptionally strong system software background. You'll bring top-notch control software expertise and contribute to safety critical systems design immediately. You'll be working with system architects, software architects and algorithm experts in developing real-time control systems and applications. This is an opportunity to solve the core autonomy challenges and make foundational impact on a critical part of autonomous driving technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic vision and execution roadmap of the real-time control software architecture;
  • Review and create requirements documentation for real time control systems;
  • Design and implement control applications for autonomous systems;
  • Develop complex real time control system modelling and software simulation;
  • Contribute to technical direction for autonomy software architecture, including platform, middleware, services, and backend;
  • Lead the proof-of-concept development to evaluate the architectural designs in terms of safety, functionality, performance, security, and dependability;
  • Constantly strive to look for future innovations and product improvements;
  • Follow industry trends and serve as a visible technology thought leader in the industry.
Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related technology degree;
  • 5+ experience in real-time control systems and control theory;
  • Experience with motion control applications;
  • Strong meaningful individual contributor experience in real-time programming and system level thinking;
  • Solid C/C++ programming in a real time environment;
  • Experience in driving technical strategy and vision for engineering teams and organizations;
  • Self-motivated and enjoy exploring "undefined" territory, and solving hard problems, and building systems from the lowest level if needed;
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with RT-Preempt and other RT Linux extensions;
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering based on SysML or other DSLs;
  • Experience with Linux kernel;
  • Distributed systems and scalable system design knowledge.
