Aplin has partnered with a Montreal-based company to find an experienced Real-Time Embedded Software Architect to join their team. Reporting to the Vice President of Technology you will contribute to the technical vision of the company and lead the software technology development.

This opportunity does require the successful candidate to work a hybrid model out of their Montreal office.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of the embedded software architecture and subsystem: define requirements, complete analysis, define the multi-segment interface, and accomplish functional decomposition
• Inform customers and internal leadership of technical progress, risks, and alternative courses of action
• Develop software bricks, potentially with security constraints
• Perform unit testing of modules and handle debugging
• Ensure the maintenance of the delivered code
• Support system integration, test planning, and execution
• Supporting and assisting various teams

Qualifications:

• BAC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
• 8+ years of experience in the development of real-time embedded software architecture for communication systems
• Ability to work quickly with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
• Previous experience and skills in project definition, implementation/execution (writing code), simulation, lab integration, and system testing
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative and agile environment focused on rapid prototyping and product release
• Experience in technical leadership
• Knowledge of radio frequency communications (Wi-Fi 6; LTE 4G; 5G; WiMAX)
• Advanced knowledge of IP networking principles
• Advanced knowledge of languages: C/C++,
• Knowledge of scripting languages: Perl, Bash, and TCL is an asset
• A strong understanding of communication systems is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Extensive experience at both operational and strategic levels
• Keep abreast of technology and market trends, able to interpret technology trends for the benefit of the organization
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in FPGA (HDL) programming is an asset
• A Master's degree is an asset
• Experience in military communications is an asset The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada security clearance (Reliability Status and Secret Level) and pass the security
