Real Estate Law ClerkOttawa, ONAC-18475Our client is an established, full-service firm with over 35 lawyers. They have built a reputation as one of the leading law firms serving developers (freehold and condominium), and property owners in the National Capital Region and beyond. With the backing of their Real Estate & Development Law team and the resources of our Municipal, Business, Labour & Employment, and Litigation lawyers, they offer timely advice and practical, cost-effective solutions for their client\'s real estate projects.They are currently seeking an experienced Real Estate Clerk with 3+ years of experience in commercial and residential real estate to join their team in Ottawa.Responsibilities:

  • Handle purchases and sales of various types of properties.
  • Review agreements.
  • Conduct off-title enquiries and title searches.
  • Draft closing documents, and prepare and register electronic documents etc.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, financial institutions, title insurance companies, land registry offices, municipalities and third parties.
  • Prepare emails, correspondence, authorizations and directions and various other documentation.
  • Handle all aspects of real estate transactions from beginning to end.
  • Support lawyers by assembling and organizing client file information.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients by providing ongoing file updates.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years\' commercial and residential real estate experience.
  • Minimum of a law clerk diploma or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario real estate and related legislation (including Condominium Act, Registry Office, Tarion, Land Titles, Planning Act, HST and LTT legislation, regulations, bulletins, forms, precedents and procedures).
  • Ability and desire to work independently, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, take responsibility for work and manage multiple client files.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to learn, grow and embrace our client-centric model for legal services.
  • Must have experience with and knowledge of Conveyancer, Teraview, Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficient in web-based communications.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
