Our client is searching the market for an energetic, organized, problem solving R&D/QA Specialist. This role is ideal for a competent QA professional who wants to gain R&D experience, with around 30% of the role focused on QA/Food Safety program management and minimal routine QA testing/checking. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing As the R&D/QA Specialist you will play a key role within the current plant as well as in setting the foundation for the new plant. You will interact broadly across the business from senior leadership to production floor and customers through to suppliers to help the business grow and improve. You will work with a dedicated knowledgeable team as you use your curiosity and technical skills to create new capabilities and drive growth within the business. You will lead the team through your FSQA knowledge to bring improvement making our food a little bit better everyday. With support and coaching from the Production Manager and General Manager, you will achieve more for the business and yourself than you ever believed was possible. Practically speaking, you will: Continuous Improvement * Be a driving force of Continuous Improvement \xe2\x80\x93 Use your curiosity, technical mind and tenacity to move Continuous Improvement forward in all areas of the business. Deeply understand how operations within the plant are working, lead testing + measurements and re-define the processes creating improvement. Together with the team, implement the right changes and see it through to dial everything in. * Become a respected subject matter expert \xe2\x80\x93 Share what you\xe2\x80\x99ve learned and elevate everyone\xe2\x80\x99s knowledge. Through informal methods, defining operational measurements, presentations and workplace instructions. * Speak the language of business \xe2\x80\x93 gain traction for your ideas by guiding them with effective business thinking and communicate persuasively. Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) * Be the owner \xe2\x80\x93 Take hold of the current FSQA system and lead it within the plant. Be a key liaison with Staff, Customers and Government Inspection. * Make it yours - Explore all areas to improve through: simplification, streamlining, communication, gap reduction and electronic record keeping. * Get the people on board to help you \xe2\x80\x93 Teach and train. It impacts all of employees, many hands make light work. Research and Development * Understand, Understand, Understand \xe2\x80\x93 Use your work in Continuous Improvement and FSQA as a based to understand our Capabilities. Work with customers to understand their needs. Design, test and present solutions to meet the needs of the Customers and deliver success to the business. * Lead the projects \xe2\x80\x93 Manage all elements of the project including timelines, testing and samples, costing, SRED grants and documentation needs. * Work the extended team \xe2\x80\x93 Supplier partners are a critical to growing the business, including equipment, packaging, ingredient and other technology. Work with them to bring new capabilities to the business. The Details This is a full-time, permanent position with office hours from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. The client offers a competitive salary based on experience, along with standard medical benefits, vacation time, and paid holidays. There may be occasional travel required, depending on customer and project needs. Qualifications * Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Protein/Food Science, Engineering, or a related field * 5 to 7 years of Quality Assurance experience in the protein food industry (meat, poultry, seafood) * Proficiency in FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) program administration and HACCP, creating workplace instructions, and internal presentations. * Experience in project management and leading improvement projects beyond day-to-day QA roles * Knowledge of Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) or similar statistical methodologies * Highly curious and eager to learn, technically skilled, detail-oriented, and adept at handling non-routine tasks * Comfortable on the production floor interacting with workers and foremen, strong planning and communication abilities, empowers others through understanding, and can navigate ambiguity independently. * Understands QA\xe2\x80\x99s role in supporting production rather than policing, diplomatic, tenacious, and resilient Looking for meaningful work?
