ABB Smart Buildings digitally transforms commercial, industrial and residential buildings for the highest comfort, efficiency, safety and security - enhancing quality of life in buildings of the future through safe, smart and sustainable electrification solutions, services and products.The R&D engineer will work out of the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, 700 avenue Thomas location, as part of the ELSB R&D Modular-Metering team. The R&D engineer will be involved in product development, and support manufacturing of the current product. In new product development, tasks will include product and part CAD design, prototyping and testing.
Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for design of parts and products for improvement of performance, ease of manufacturing, or cost reduction.
  • Support manufacturing and quality for technical product queries.
  • Responsible for change requests and approval for resolution of quality and manufacturing issues.
  • Responsible for prototyping of new products for the purpose testing fit, thermal testing, rain testing, and others.
  • Testing of new product or parts. Thermal, rain, form, and fit, cold impact, and others.
  • Responsible for coordination of design reviews for parts designed
  • Comply with health, safety, environment processes.
Your background
  • Mechanical Technical degree
  • or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
  • CAD abilities- CREO an asset
  • Knowledge of product development processes
  • Product design abilities
  • Familiar with fabrication processes such as steel stamping, injection molding, assembly.
  • Fluent in French / English
  • Interpersonal abilities of collaboration, working in a team
  • Well-organized (task scheduling, reporting out)
  • Manual abilities for assembly of prototypes and test set-ups (torque driver, screw-drivers etc.)
