Hatch is seeking a dynamic Rail Systems Co-op Student with interest in Rail Systems Engineering, for a 12-to-16-month co-op starting May 2024. Reporting to a Senior Engineer of Rail Systems, you will support offices globally working from Calgary, Alberta office.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks for projects in the field of Rail Systems which covers: advanced train control systems, application software and simulation, overhead contact systems, railway communications and IT, signaling systems, crossing warning systems, electrical, traction power, and testing and commissioning.
  • Assist with technical design reviews and calculations checks.
  • Coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables.
  • Assist in the design of rail systems.
  • Assistance of senior engineers and designers as and when needed.
  • Contribute to overall needs for project completion.
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills.
Education and Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) co-op program from an accredited University.
  • In good academic standing.
  • Interested in rail systems design as a career.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation.
  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge or experience in a consultancy environment undertaking infrastructure projects, will be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with multidisciplinary interaction.
