Based in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) facility, the Quality/Continuous Improvement Technologist will report to the Quality Manager. A Quality/Continuous Technologist will be responsible for creating, developing and executing continuous improvement project plans. The Quality/Continuous Technologist will be responsible to facilitate the CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) initiatives and work with the Continuous Improvement team and department stakeholders to implement CIP suggestions. The Quality/Continuous Technologist will be expected to participate and provide expertise in Root Cause Analysis and well as process improvement.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create, Develop and Execute Continuous Improvement Projects following Lean and Six Sigma principals
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Powell\'s Quality System and the execution of continuous improvement initiatives that support the system.
  • Conduct and Participate in Root Cause Analysis, as required.
  • Facilitate the CIP (Continuous Improvement Program) initiatives.
  • Work with the Continuous Improvement team, employees and department stakeholders to implement CIP suggestions.
  • Work closely with employees to understand their suggestions for improvement and work with stakeholders to communicate and effectively implement improvement.
  • Facilitate meetings for the continuous improvement team.
  • Track, Monitor and Report Metrics associated with improvements.
  • Set the example for team members on expectations, accountability and attitude.
  • Lead special projects, as required.
  • Other duties, as required.

Qualifications
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Training required.
  • Post-Secondary Education preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Temperature controlled working environment
  • Job requires working in an office setting as well as a manufacturing setting
  • Must wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes) when required
Physical Requirements
  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
  • Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
  • Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.
