Position: Slurry Technician / QC Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented Slurry Technician / Quality Control (QC) Technician to support production operations and ensure product quality through regular testing and equipment monitoring. This role requires frequent tasting of products throughout the day and working closely with the production and quality teams. Please note: Due to the nature of the role, candidates with food allergies may not be suitable.
Responsibilities:
Operate production equipment including ovens, tumblers, slurry tanks, slurry sprayers, and powder dispensers.
Assemble and disassemble equipment components for start-up and shut-down procedures.
Perform minor maintenance on production equipment as needed.
Clean equipment as required to meet hygiene and sanitation standards.
Conduct quality checks every 30 minutes, including:
o Measuring bulk density.
o Performing organoleptic/sensory evaluations (taste, smell, texture).
Lift and transfer 50 lb (23 kg) bags of ingredients multiple times throughout the shift.
Perform additional quality checks as assigned by the Quality Team.
Assist the production team with break time coverage and management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Quality Management, or a related field; OR
o Minimum of 1 year of experience in the food industry as an equipment operator or QC technician.
Skills:
Strong sensory skills and a good sense of taste are essential.
Sensory training experience is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
Able to bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions safely and effectively.
