Primary Objective of the Quality Specialist:

This position will help achieve CCI\xe2\x80\x99s quality and safety objectives. This role supports the development, implementation, maintenance and improvement of the quality management systems, processes, and practices.

Major Areas of Accountability of the Quality Specialist:

  • Work with appropriate Circuit Check personnel to resolve production quality issues
  • Support the collection and reporting of production and field failure data, and analyze failure data to identify and communicate quality and reliability trends/issues
  • Lead the continuous improvement process by administering the non-conformance system, assuring that corrective and preventative actions are appropriately initiated and completed, and conducting kaizen events
  • Drive the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of the ESD (electrostatic discharge) control program
  • Drive the establishment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the shelf life program
  • Ensure all measurement equipment is in good working order and within calibration
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality processes and related documentation necessary for ISO-9001 compliance
  • Evaluate and perform audits of company\xe2\x80\x99s quality management system and process controls (for example: policies, procedures, work instructions) and provide recommendations to management as appropriate regarding any deficiencies
  • Occasionally called upon to interface with customers to solve quality problems, respond to corrective actions, support customer audits, and respond to customer inquiries
  • Act as the Lead Interface with external audit and regulatory authorities
  • Work with purchasing to help audit and approve new suppliers
  • Perform staff quality management training and maintain quality training records
  • Participate in quarterly JHSC (Joint Health and Safety Committee) meetings
  • Participate in Failure Mode Effect Analysis reviews.
Education and Experience Desired of the Quality Specialist:
  • Appropriate technical degree or technical technology diploma
  • Experience in auditing quality management systems
  • Other appropriate education and experience levels would be considered
  • ASQ certification
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a quality role
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment, ideally in a custom machine manufacturing facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired of the Quality Specialist:
  • Ability to perform and document internal audits of the quality management system
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Solid analytical skills; able to resolve complex technical problems with innovative solutions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to deal with a high workload and deadline pressure
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature and a sense of urgency
  • Willingness to learn and gain experience with the Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s Occupational Health Safety Act and regulations
  • Ability to handle day to day activities and responsibilities with limited supervision.
Physical Requirements (must be performed with or without accommodation):
  • Majority of time is spent in usual office working conditions
  • Ability to sit for extended lengths of time is required; bend, reach, stoop and twist as required
  • Heavy use of an office computer for completing work
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration; risk of electrical shock
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing areas which may entail exposure to dirt, dust, noise, machine chemicals, fumes and other attributes common to this environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to travel as necessary and work extended hours as job duties demand.
