Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Quality Specialist.

This role will be responsible for working with members of the business at all levels of the organization to facilitate and action Supply Chain quality issues, assess suppliers and support the CSC program in all aspects of Supply Chain Quality. They will monitor metrics and system status, both for ISI and suppliers, ensuring items are escalated as appropriate while supporting first-time-right Quality culture.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

• Education Required:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering, Science, Business or equivalent
• Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent of Continuous Improvement experience
• Certificate in ISO auditing considered an asset
• Experience Required: 3+ years of related experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace or construction industries
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Numerically astute with strong problem-solving and data analysis skills, visual data management, root cause analysis tools, and expertise to develop and execute objectives
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and Quality Management Systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• A self-starter and team-oriented individual possessing a strong work ethic, and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Data management and visual presentation experience (SQL, COGNOS, Tableau, etc.) is an asset

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform data analysis, and 8D and PDCA methodology to ensure that nonconformances are contained, root causes are determined and corrected, and recurrence is prevented
• Conduct internal audits to ensure that ISI is in compliance with their Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 requirements
• Review and approve Containment and Corrective action plans for Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) submitted by Supply Chain personnel
• Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and/or special projects regarding the noncompliance of Supply Chain technical requirements
• Evaluate new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and compliance to requirements
