The Quality Control Technician is a member of the Quality Team and reports to the Quality Assurance & Regulatory Manager. The QC Technician performs activities to ensure compliance to facility quality programs.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Agricultural Practices (GACP) and EuGMPs in compliance with Cannabis Regulations under the Cannabis Act.
Adhere to company policies and standards related to safety, cost control, waste reduction, quality, and on-time delivery.
Ensure safe work conditions and practices as per company Safety, Health and Environmental policies.
Collect samples, documentation, and prepare shipments to third-party analytical testing laboratories in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct record reviews, accurate data entry, and filling of various quality-related documentation for traceability and compliance.
Collect, compile and analyze quality data to identify trends, deviations, or potential improvements.
Collaborate with cultivation and production teams to promote sanitation, hygiene and GMP adherence through ongoing training and monitoring.
Perform environmental monitoring, packaging inspections, weight verifications, sanitation validations and process checks.
Participate in quality program functions including internal audits, SOP creation and updates, non-conformance investigations and training initiatives
Support product label review for compliance with Cannabis Regulations, including THC/CBD declarations, standardized cannabis symbols, bilingual health warnings, ingredient listing, equivalency statements, and lot/batch traceability working knowledge of federal and provincial cannabis regulatory requirements and apply this knowledge during day-to-day quality operations.
Identify and escalate potential compliance risks related to labeling, product integrity, or documentation.
Complete all assigned tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner, contributing to a compliant and efficient quality control system.
QualificationsPost-secondary education in a science-related field, preferably a B.Sc.; diploma holders with relevant experience may be considered.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, food, or cannabis industry, with a strong understanding of regulated environments preferred.
Familiarity with GMP, GPP, and/or GLP standards; experience working in a regulated environment is considered an asset.
Ability to interpret and apply cannabis regulations, with experience supporting regulatory audits or inspections (e.g., Health Canada, CRA, or provincial regulators).
Proficient w Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in documentation and inspection tasks.
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement.
