Quality Control Technician

This role is critical in ensuring Kerridge Concrete consistently delivers high-quality, durable products that meet or exceed CSA and client specifications. The Quality Control Technician reports into the QC Manager and is be responsible for testing, recording, and reporting on product quality while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine sampling and testing of fresh and hardened concrete in accordance with CSA standards. Prepare, cure, and test concrete cylinders using compression machines at required intervals. "Controlling the pour"- ensure the proper slump (as per customer requirements), that the order of trucks is correct according to the assigned tickets, and that dispatch is consistently updated on progress/delays.
Record and maintain accurate test results, ensuring timely data entry into reporting systems.

Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot testing equipment to ensure reliability and compliance.

Identify and communicate quality issues promptly to supervisors and collaborate on corrective actions.

Work closely with the operations team to monitor and support production quality.

Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in concrete or construction materials testing preferred. Familiarity with CSA standards for concrete testing considered an asset. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Basic computer proficiency (MS Office or data entry systems). Physical ability to lift heavy materials (up to 60lbs) and work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions. Valid driver's license (Class 5), clean driver's abstract
Reliable transportation is required to get to the worksite as there are no direct busing routes available.

Work Environment:

Based out of our Calgary yard; role involves both indoor and outdoor work. Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility for weekend work as needed during peak demand. Work is hands-on and physically active, requiring adherence to safety and PPE standards.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00-$32.00 per hour
