The Quality Assurance Specialist under the direction of the QA/RA Manager is primarily responsible for the monitoring and quality control of cannabis production and extraction processes. The role will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Cannabis Regulations/SOR-2018-144 and Good Production Practices (GPP).This position is based out of Kingsville, Ontario.Job Duties

  • Ensure that all standard operating procedures are being strictly followed.
  • Ensure compliance with Cannabis Regulations/SOR-2018-144.
  • Investigate and report quality deviations, SCARs, etc.; and implement CAPAs.
  • Perform Moisture test and sampling to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Adopt and incorporate quality methods into everyday work.
  • Prepare Quality Control specifications for bulk products, raw materials, components and finished products.
  • Maintain QA control documentation.
  • Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities.
  • Conduct tests and create reports in compliance with corporate policies, practices, and Conduct risk procedures.
  • Assist with the maintenance of QA monitoring programs, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
  • analysis, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable.
  • Ensure that refuse and cannabis products are managed or destroyed in accordance with Cannabis Regulations/SOR-2018-144.
  • Complete inspection reports on production equipment, sanitation practices, and production areas.
  • Train staff on operating procedures and GPP.
  • Review complaints and follow up with appropriate departments.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of work experience in a quality assurance role in pharmaceutical, food, or related industry.
  • University degree in science or related discipline (chemistry, biology, pharmacology).
  • Previous experience with extraction equipment.
  • Knowledge of Cannabis Regulations/SOR-2018-144 and other regulatory requirements is an asset.
  • Experience with an organization regulated by HACCP or experience in a similarly regulated environment (GMP, GAP, GPP).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow strict operating procedures.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Dedication to safety measures and best practices.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Fluent in Spanish would be an asset.
