THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN HAMILTON, ONTARIO.

Mandate:

This position will be supporting the Head Office Production facilities. The purpose of this role is to contribute to quality by ensuring product consistency, food safety and customer focus by effectively communicating Quality Assurance verification results to the team.

Accountabilities:

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all products produced by the facilities as well as the raw and packaging materials and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications and standards;
  • Actively leads and/or participates in Food Safety audits, follow ups, monitoring programs and implementation of corrective actions to ensure the facilities meet standards requirements for Food Safety and Document Control;
  • Participates in regular meetings with facility management to discuss quality improvements;
  • Ensures all quality-related information required for regulatory reviews and reporting i.e. policy, training, inspection, sanitation, calibration and production records are maintained by the facilities;
  • Coordinates the writing and issue of new policies and procedures (i.e. SOPs);
  • Meets and supports with 3rd parties i.e. vendors, customers and quality representatives and other company staff to discuss and resolve quality issues;
  • Assist with various projects and company functions as needed;
  • Manage the Sanitation team and the Maintenance Program
  • Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills with a demonstrated customer focus;
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to multi task;
  • Ability to work independently to determine the appropriate course of action to resolve situations in a timely manner;
  • Highly organized and has a high degree of attention to detail;
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and report writing skills;
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Applications i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint;
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements, quality assurance techniques, safe manufacturing operations, OSHA standards, product quality (success rate), and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
Education and Experience:
  • A university Degree or College Diploma in Food Science or related field is preferred;
  • 3 - 5 years of Food Industry Experience with Document Control and Quality Assurance
  • experience in a food production environment;
  • Must have an in-depth HACCP experience including; program development; implementation of programs & self auditing of the HACCP program
  • SQF experience and CFIA inspection experience preferred
