At SMS Equipment, our Quality Assurance Lead play a key role in creating a quality culture in the Remanufacturing department by providing recommendations and technical support. The incumbent will analyze and follow up to key performance indicators of each process, typically to solve operational problems, design and redesign and reduce operating cost or optimizing the use of assets. We are looking for a candidate who will bring their experience, positivity and love for data to the team! This role is located in Acheson, AB.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop, implement, and maintain processes and quality systems for the Remanufacturing department. Including areas of welding, mechanical, and electrical activities relating more specifically to the Komatsu equipment.
• Analyze technical data and prepare technical reports; conduct quality audits to ISO 9001:2015 standards and specifications; participate in third party ISO audit proceedings; generate QMS reports for quarterly meetings.
• Analyze component failures as needed to verify failure mechanisms to improve develop and maintain procedures and documentation. Manage Non-Compliance reports. Investigate improper service procedures, shipping errors, manufacturing errors, and troubleshoot for root causes. Work effectively with outside consultants to assess equipment and part failures and develop appropriate design and/or procedure improvements. Design changes to improve both efficiency and reliability. Communicates to management the status of on-going issues and methods for improving the service quality.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have secondary education related to mechanical or trades environment, along with a minimum of 2-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Possess a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining parts and equipment
• Experience with ISO Certification. ISO Internal Auditor certification would be an asset
• Possess above average communication, organization and multi-tasking skills with ability to keep accurate detailed notes
• Good/excellent computer knowledge and skills (i.e. Access, Word, Excel, eXtend, Powerpoint) are required
• Requires knowledge of MSDS, WHMIS, and OH&S acts and regulations, and equipment inspection requirements
