Summary
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Assistant to join our team in Acheson, Alberta. This role is crucial to ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety, contributing significantly to our mission of enriching lives through exceptional cannabis.
The Quality Assurance Assistant ("QAA") will ensure that the day-to-day activities of the team complies with applicable regulations and meets the company's objectives for process control, continuous improvement, product quality and security. QAA must have the ability to meet both external and internal regulatory requirements including legal compliance and customer expectations.
The QAA is accountable for assisting in the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the quality assurance and control systems in compliance with the Cannabis Act and Regulations.
QAA in the cannabis facility would be responsible for ensuring that the production process adheres to strict quality standards and regulations set by governing bodies. QAA works closely with production managers and staff to monitor and maintain the quality of cannabis products throughout the manufacturing process, from cultivation to packaging and distribution.
The QAA would also be responsible for conducting quality control inspections to identify any defects, discrepancies or non-compliance with regulations and established requirements. QAA would develop and implement quality control procedures and protocols to ensure that the production process is consistent and meets the required quality standards and regulations. In addition, they would document and report any issues or non-compliance to the Quality Assurance Manager and work with the production team and management for corrective action.
The QAA would be working closely with production and processing team members to verify and document inventory transitions and quantities in inventory tracking tools or software provided by Freedom Cannabis Inc. (e.g. Evora).
Responsibilities:
Support the Quality Assurance Department in implementing SOPs & Quality Management Programs and projects to ensure GPP compliance under the Cannabis Act/Regulations
Assist QAP with process development and SOP revisions, including developing new SOPs.
Assist in implementation of training programs around SOPs for Compliance
Ensure that all processing activities are carried out as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), at all times, to result in consistent quality cannabis products.
Collaborate with other relevant departments such as operations and marketing to ensure compliance with Health Canada regulations and guidelines.
Ensure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMP, GPP, GDP
Conduct quality inspections and verification of production areas, equipment and procedures to ensure they are cleaned and sanitized prior to use
Perform internal audits and actively participate in external audits such as Health Canada Inspections.
Assist in the implementation of programs around GPP & Record Keeping
Maintain current knowledge of best practices for the provisions of the Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations that apply to the license holder
Assist the QA team to develop and implement a robust 'Sanitation Program' for the facility
Ensure cleaning and sanitation procedures are followed
Gather and review all cleaning and sanitation records for 100% accuracy and completeness before QAP's final review and approval of each batch.
Conduct quality verification, sampling, inspection and in-process quality controls of bulk product and finished goods, including maintenance of lab and retention samples
Preparation and control of shipping lab samples to qualified testing facilities
Participate in quality evaluation, assessment and investigation in respect to out-of-specification results, returned product, deviations, adverse events, product complaints, loss or theft, security occurrence, and assist with problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective and preventative actions, as appropriate.
Ensure accurate quality documentation and records are maintained
Review and update inventory quantities in inventory tracking software.
Work safely, report all workplace hazards and follow all Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field but not required.
Prior experience in a quality assurance or quality control role is an asset.
Strong understanding of ISO standards (ISO 13485, ISO 9001).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with quality audits and inspections.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
