Job Description


We are currently accepting resumes for the position of Quality Control Level 2 based in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Camp or LOA is not provided ; therefore, only local applicants will be considered.

Summary of Role

Management of a multi-discipline Quality team monitoring the administration and application of Quality programs in compliance with codes, standards and specifications. This role reports to the Project Controls Coordinator.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to Tartan\xe2\x80\x99s safety management system, policies, procedures and values;
  • Provide complete and continuous safety direction to Quality team and sub-contractors while maintaining zero tolerance for safety infractions, incidents and accidents;
  • Assist Shutdown Management Team in maintaining and enforcing legal and Company Safety and Loss Prevention Programs;
  • Continuously work with shutdown teams on safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and unsafe work conditions;
  • Establish inspection standards for all third party inspection equipment;
  • Assist Superintendents, General Foremen and Foremen with safety relate investigations, corrective actions and follow-ups.
  • Planning and Managing
  • Works directly with the Shutdown Management;
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications and the applicable codes and standards
  • Develop a working relationship with the Shutdown Management and Client Quality Control;
  • Interface with Construction Project Management on QA/QC matters relating to project procurement, receiving inspection, planning and scheduling ;
  • Responsible for implementing Tartan\xe2\x80\x99s Quality Management System;
  • Interface with shutdown manager on quality issues, maintaining welding procedures and welder qualifications per ASME Section IX ;
  • Implement travel sheets, inspection and testing documentation (ITP);
  • Work with production to improve fabrication, assembly and installation processes;
  • Perform \xe2\x80\x9c In-House\xe2\x80\x9d audits of quality inspection, including but not limited to, visual welding inspection, physical measurement, P&ID walk-down inspections, insulation and painting inspection;
  • Performance, as required, of \xe2\x80\x9cIn-House\xe2\x80\x9d quality inspection including visual welding inspection, physical measurement, P&ID walk-down inspections, insulation and painting inspection;
  • Coordinate third-party inspection activity and responsible for the day-to-day approval of time and material expenditures for the QC sub-contractors onsite;
  • Conduct personnel training on the quality program as well as with production procedures;
  • Responsible for verification of mechanical completion and turnover package to construction / operations.

  • Introduce and implement processes to review quality on a daily basis;

  • Provide mentorship and guidance as well as execute performance reviews;

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in heavy industrial QA/QC with at least 3 year supervising
  • Journeyman Pipefitter or Journeyman Welder ticket ;
  • Certified as CWA W178.2 Level II;
  • CSTS-09
  • Clearance of a Pre-Access test;
  • Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio and PowerPoint.
