Job Description

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):




Monitor plant manufacturing procedures, including poultry, Red Meat, Vegetables processing and packaging line. Alert processing Lead Hands/Production Supervisor of product quality or process problems during production. Monitor production floor temperature and intermediate products in a timely manner. Sample and inspect raw material and intermediate products for QA evaluation according to established procedures. Withhold products that do not meet minimum quality or safety standards. Ensure proper code dating, identification, and weighting of all intermediate and finished products. Control input and output materials and ensure FIFO procedure is followed. Adhere to and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and notify management of infractions promptly. Assist with plant GMP/sanitation audits and participate in quality planning and improvement activities. Adhere to company health and safety policies/procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Provide support for regulatory compliance, food safety, and product quality, and liaise with regulatory agencies (CFIA and FDA). Update, maintain, and verify QA Records to ensure QA efficiency. Perform food safety and quality audits to verify compliance with regulatory and food safety standards. Ensure proper documentation control procedures are implemented, maintained, and followed. Training and Consultation: Train and consult with production and logistic teams on food safety, product quality, and regulatory issues. Report related food safety, product quality, and regulatory deficiencies to management. Facilitate the resolution of quality programs, procedures, regulations, and compliance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Verify root cause corrective action plans and close gaps in regulatory, operational, and product quality deficiencies. Perform food exporting/Importing QA and regularity tasks this including CFIA permission, prepare the documents required and lease the destination inspection. Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Required:




3 to 4 years of previous experience in a Quality Assurance role Previously hands-on experience in raw meat production and understanding meat regulations. University/College completion in Microbiology, Food Science or related discipline. GMP and/or Food Handling training is an asset. Knowledge of HACCP's principles preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Intermediate skill required for Word and Excel. Ability to carry 50Ibs. and ability to work in cold environment i.e., 0 C to 4 C. "Can do" attitude with a willingness to learn
