QA Compliance Inspector.
Who can Supervise the daily execution of work at construction sites to meet quality and timeliness requirements. This role will be reporting to the GHD DRP the incumbent will be responsible for supervising the construction or installation of different components to ensure compliance with technical drawings, Toronto Hydro standards, specifications and applicable Canadian standards according to GHD procedures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering construction verification and audit services, including quality assurance tasks such as safety inspections, workmanship evaluations, validation of construction activities for compliance with Toronto Hydro standards and electrical safety and O. Reg. 22/04, progress reporting, witness testing, and dimensional inspections across short-, medium-, and long-term timelines.

Responsibilities
External Communications:
Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
Construction Management:
Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of an area of a construction project. Involves using existing systems and protocols.
Health, Safety, and Environment:
Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
Work Scheduling and Allocation:
Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
Leadership and Direction:
Explain the local action plan, to support team members in their understanding of what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and the organization's strategy, mission, and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
Performance Management:
Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
Organizational Capability Building:
Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
Operational Compliance:
Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
Quality Assurance:
Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
Education
Education/designation: Powerline Technician or underground equivalent shall have Lineman Ontario Provincial Classification or Journeyperson Certificate of completion issued by MEA or MTCU or Power Line Technician Red Seal Certification.
Certified to work in confined spaces to conduct inspections in cable chambers.
Experience
General Experience:
Over 7 years of experience in QA/QC reporting, change control, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Managerial Experience:
Proven experience in overhead and underground electrical distribution, including cable pulling, stringing, and live-line procedures.
Advanced ability to identify and manage electrical hazards, strong adherence to safe work practices and incident reporting.
Skilled in switchgear and transformer installation, commissioning, and inspection per industry standards.
Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specs, and one-line diagrams.
Knowledge of ESA, EUSR, OHSA, and Toronto Hydro standards; able to audit utility construction and identify non-conformances.
Familiar with high-voltage tools (e.g., boom trucks, pullers), urban construction safety, Book 7 traffic control, and utility clearances.
Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
Willingness to work extended hours and travel across Toronto as needed.
Must have a valid G-Class driver's license
