Maderra Personnel is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of Mechanical QA/QC Inspector in Valentine Lake, NL.

Position Overview
We are seeking two highly skilled Mechanical QC Inspectors to support our construction and installation activities. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of piping systems, hydrotesting, and equipment installation (including pumps and motors), as well as a working understanding of civil construction practices such as formwork and rebar inspection. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
Schedule / Duration: Contract starting mid-October for 3 months - 2 weeks in 2 weeks out, 1 per shift cross shifting
Responsibilities:

  • Piping Systems & Testing:
  • Inspect fabrication, installation, and testing of piping systems (carbon and stainless steel).
  • Witness and document hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
  • Verify compliance with ASME, CSA, and client specifications.
Mechanical Equipment:
  • Oversee installation and alignment of pumps, motors, compressors, and related equipment.
  • Verify grouting, leveling, and anchoring meet engineering and manufacturer requirements.
  • Confirm torqueing and alignment records are properly documented.
Civil/Structural Exposure:
  • Inspect formwork, reinforcing steel, and concrete placements for compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure proper curing and finishing practices are adhered to.
  • Verify that structural supports and foundations are ready for mechanical/equipment installation.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and ITP checklists.
  • Review and validate contractor QA/QC documentation.
  • Work closely with project management, engineering, and construction teams to resolve quality-related issues.
Standards & Compliance:
  • Ensure all work complies with company QA/QC program, client specifications, and applicable codes and standards (CSA, ASME, ASTM, CWB, API).
  • Support audits and client quality reviews as required.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline, or equivalent trade/field experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of quality control/inspection experience in piping, equipment installation, and/or civil works within industrial or heavy construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards: ASME B31.3, CSA piping standards, API, ACI, ASTM, and CWB requirements.
  • Experience with hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and mechanical alignment procedures.
  • Familiarity with concrete construction, formwork, and rebar inspection.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and interface with clients/engineers.
  • CSA W178.2 Level 1 or 2 Welding Inspector certification considered an asset.
  • NDE background or familiarity is an asset.
