Our Toronto office is looking for the next

QA Electrical Inspector

the incumbent will be responsible for supervising the construction or installation of different components to ensure compliance with technical drawings, Toronto Hydro standards, specifications and applicable Canadian standards according to GHD procedures. The role will support the technical execution of construction-site work to meet quality and timeliness requirements.


The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering construction verification and audit services, including quality assurance tasks such as safety inspections, workmanship evaluations, validation of construction activities for compliance with Toronto Hydro standards and electrical safety and O. Reg. 22/04, progress reporting, witness testing, and dimensional inspections across short-, medium-, and long-term timelines.

Responsibilities

Insights and Reporting:

Extract simple/automatic data in various forms (graphs, charts, etc.) to include in reports.

Data Collection and Analysis:

Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.

Regulatory and Compliance Management:

Carry out a wide range of compliance monitoring activities and give basic advice on compliance and regulatory requirements.

Cost Accounting:

Monitor and analyze data using cost accounting systems and protocols.

Cost Calculation and Analysis:

Collate cost information and help calculate accurate costings for construction, maintenance, or improvement works.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others.

Personal Capability Building:

Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.

Operational Compliance:

Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.

Quality Review:

Check the quality of work undertaken by teams in accordance with well-defined quality standards, identifying appropriate rectification where necessary.

Education

Holds a valid Power Line Red Seal Certification , demonstrating interprovincial qualification as a Construction Electrician or Electrical Engineer. Professional Engineer registered in the province of Ontario is an asset

Experience

General Experience:

Over 3 years of experience in QA/QC documentation, protection systems, and construction test witnessing.

Managerial Experience:

Strong experience in site inspections, ensuring compliance with electrical drawings, specs, and safety codes (ESA, EUSR, OHSA). Skilled in documenting inspections, standards, managing NCRs, and maintaining quality records. Proficient in underground and overhead electrical systems, including cable pulling, conductor stringing, and switchgear installation. Able to read and validate single-line diagrams, schematics, and as-builts. Knowledge of Toronto Hydro standards, utility clearance requirements, and municipal regulations (MCR). Familiar with urban electrical infrastructure, hydro-vac, excavation, and temporary utility supports. Effective in tracking work progress and supporting safe, high-quality execution. Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively. Willingness to work extended hours and travel across Toronto as needed. Must have a valid G-Class driver's license
