Here\'s what you\'ll be doing....
Your primary responsibility is to promote and sell books, largely on subjects in the social sciences and humanities, to university and college instructors in Canada and the United States. On top of nurturing relationships in your sales territory, you will assist Publishing colleagues with a variety of tasks related to the creation and execution of marketing plans and materials; participate in special sales and marketing projects; and attend conferences. Travel within North America is required (approximately 6-10 weeks annually).

  • This is a full-time remote position, however occasional in office workspace is available at our 800 Bay Street location
Key Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct sales calls (in-person, via email, and over-the-phone) to promote UTP books to academics in an assigned territory including both Canadian and US universities/colleges
  • In collaboration with the Sales Manager, establish a sales strategy to achieve revenue targets that identifies opportunities at key accounts, and includes a travel schedule and a budget
  • Develop knowledge of faculty teaching and research interests within assigned territory
  • Keep detailed CRM records of leads, opportunities and sales in assigned territory
  • Attend select conference book exhibits and other events
  • Keep current on emerging technologies and their application in a higher education setting, particularly in relation to key schools in sales territory
  • Provide market assessment and forecasts on sales potential for technological and ancillary material development as it relates to UTP book publishing program
  • Provide editorial acquisition leads from sales territory. Contribute to editorial and market research work
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • Post-secondary graduate
  • Previous experience in sales or marketing an asset
  • Interest in selling and marketing books, preferably in college or scholarly markets
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
  • Highly organized, goal-oriented, independently motivated self-starter
  • Effective and adaptable communication skills
  • Energetic, collaborative team member
  • Possess good judgement and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Invested in creating positive customer experiences
  • Microsoft 365 proficient, experience with CRM software is considered an asset
  • A full driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is required
