About FLUID Multidisciplinary Health Clinic

We are a Halifax based clinic that offers personalized chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and rehabilitation services.

We are built on three core principles:

movement is medicine

,

, driven by innovation.
We believe rehabilitation should flow with your life--not disrupt it. Our care is personalized, collaborative, evidence-informed, and delivered with empathy.

Role Summary

As a Psychotherapist at FLUID, you will expand our patient-centered, holistic care by providing mental health support to a vastly diverse population. You will work alongside physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other rehab professionals to support clients whose treatment goals include not only physical recovery, but also mental resilience, coping with pain, and returning to meaningful activities and in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct psychological assessments, intake interviews, diagnostics and develop treatment plans for clients experiencing pain (chronic or acute), injury recovery, movement limitations, or emotional/behavioral barriers to rehabilitation. Provide individual therapy (in-person and/or virtual) addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, fear of movement, pain catastrophizing, coping strategies, body image, motivation, self-efficacy. Collaborate with the wider FLUID clinical team to integrate psychological insights into client's physical rehabilitation plans: for example, collaborate on goal setting, adherence, behavior change, pacing, and return-to-activity plans. Use evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, etc.) tailored to the needs and capacities of clients recovering from injury or with chronic conditions. Monitor client progress, adjust interventions as needed, and document outcomes, maintaining high standards of clinical and ethical practice and confidentiality. Support clients through transition phases (e.g. returning to sport/work, post-surgery, coping with long-term pain) and help them regain confidence in movement and their bodies. Assist in patient education: help clients understand psychological factors in recovery, self-management, stress, pain perception, etc. Participating in interdisciplinary case reviews, and contributing to clinic innovation (new approaches, tools, research-informed practices) to improve patient experience and outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills

Licensed or license-eligible to practice psychotherapy in Nova Scotia. Experience working with clients dealing with chronic pain, injury rehabilitation, movement limitations, or related physical health challenges. Strong understanding of the biopsychosocial model of health--that physical, psychological, and social factors all matter to recovery. Skill with evidence-based therapies (e.g. CBT, ACT, trauma-informed approaches, mindfulness, etc.). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team. Empathy, flexibility, cultural humility; a willingness to meet clients where they are. Ability to maintain clinical records, measure outcomes, manage caseload ethically and efficiently. Comfortable integrating psychological care with physical rehabilitation goals, and with clients who may be in pain or limited mobility.
Working Conditions & What We Offer

A supportive, team-based environment with other rehab professionals (physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists) and a clinic culture grounded in collaboration and innovation. Flexibility in scheduling. In-person work in Halifax, with possible options for telehealth for some clients depending on needs. Competitive compensation. Opportunity to influence clinic practices, contribute to innovation, and help shape how mental health is woven into physical rehabilitation. Access to clinic resources (rehab gym, modalities, etc.) as appropriate to support integrated care.
