Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

This is an exciting time for Manitoba health care. Manitoba's health system is currently in transition with planning and changes aimed at improving the quality, accessibility and efficiency of health care services throughout Manitoba.

Reporting to the Director of Care Support and Education, Mental Health and Addictions, the incumbent will oversee the Critical Incident Stress Response (CISR) Project including the following responsibilities:

  • Develop a provincial action plan for CISR implementation using the CISR Framework and Implementation Guide
  • Design and provide team training in SDOs across the province
  • Develop a communication and promotion strategy for Psychological Health Supports and Resources for Manitoba's Health System
  • Set plans and goals for the long-term sustainability of CISR resources for health care staff
Working closely with the CISR Steering Committee, the Provincial Coordinator will develop positive partnerships with various CISR stakeholders including OESH, Shared Health, Manitoba Health, Service Delivery Organizations and other health providers. Included the Coordinator will ensure the development of a plan for ongoing provincial CISR supports should the term position be extended or made permanent. This role requires the Coordinator to be a strong communicator, and engage in various change management strategies.

Main Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of critical incident stress and post-traumatic stress for health care employees.
  • including associated best practices and advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Management.
  • Strong clinical skills including debriefing, trauma-informed care, and psychological first aid.
  • Extensive experience with critical incident stress management techniques.
  • Strong facilitation skills including development and delivery of training to professional audiences.
  • Integrity and judgement, tact and decision-making ability within a professional environment.
  • Ability to use clinical knowledge to inform the development of evidence-based practices.
  • Flexibility to adjust quickly to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
  • Well-developed project coordination skills including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple/conflicting proprieties in a professional manner.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize as well as be adaptable to changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines of all meetings, debriefings, records, materials, and communications.
  • Ability to effectively manage assigned projects through project management software and other tools.
  • Ability to interact with management and cross-functional teams to develop, implement and provide regular updates for activities and initiatives involved in the project plan.
Experience
  • Experience coordinating projects including planning, budgeting and tracking and developing detailed work plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Experience in evaluation and report writing.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Master's degree in psychology, nursing, social work, occupational therapy or related fields; minimum of five (5) years experience in a related field; or a combination of relevant experience and education.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and virtual platforms (i.e. Microsoft Teams) required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills i.e. policy development, proposal writing, briefing note writing, designing and delivering training and presentations.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, project management and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba's healthcare system is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (French verbal and written an asset).
  • Some evening/weekend work may be required.
  • Travel within the province will be required.
  • The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the
framework.

Physical Requirements
  • May be required to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.
  • May be required to travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver's license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
