Position summary
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform (PMA) is a cutting-edge bioinformatics and proteomics service platform dedicated to advancing the field of proteomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. The platform provides high-quality proteomics data analysis services to researchers and institutions, aiding them in unraveling the complexities of protein-related research. The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform is seeking an efficient, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Proteomics and Bioinformatics Research Assistant with intermediate bioinformatics and wet lab skills to assist with designing, building and running client workflows.

General Duties

Under the supervision of the Platform Manager the incumbent:
\xc2\xb7 Assists platform manager with new client liaison, project planning and design, project operation, data analysis and production of client deliverables,
\xc2\xb7 Assists in designing, building and maintaining the informatics architecture for planned platform expansion including sample acceptance, storage, processing, analytics, bioinformatics and data dissemination to clients/journals,
\xc2\xb7 Assists platform director/manager with plans and models to build and continuously refine new commercial workflows for newly expanded proteomics services including low-cost rapid biomarker profiling to deep proteome sequencing,
\xc2\xb7 Sources state of the art data processing code/executables from github to help process Data Independent Acquisition type datasets (and maintains Data Dependent Acquisition capabilities) for human, mouse, multi-biome data libraries, and maintains pipelines for automated data processing within a mixed Windows/Unix environment,
\xc2\xb7 Keeps abreast of upgrades of R, Python and BioConductor and maintains skills using online, hybrid and in-class seminars and courses,
\xc2\xb7 Assists with the creation of hybrid online and in-person talks, workshops, posters and seminars to efficiently market platform services to new clients, educate existing labs on advanced bioinformatics and for presentations to international scientific conferences and symposia,
\xc2\xb7 Performs sample preparation tasks,
\xc2\xb7 Assists with day-to-day platform operations,
\xc2\xb7 Participates in the planning and conceptualizing of research questions and methods,
\xc2\xb7 Performs literature reviews, independent experimentation and summarizes findings as needed for new projects,
\xc2\xb7 With platform staff, coordinates instrument schedules and resources,
\xc2\xb7 Coordinates with platform manager for service requests and consults with customers for their proteomics and bio-analyses needs,
\xc2\xb7 Responds promptly to queries and requests for information,
\xc2\xb7 Conducts other related tasks as assigned by the Platform Manager.

Education / Experience

\xc2\xb7 Master\'s degree in Proteomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or other related field with hands-on benchwork experience,
\xc2\xb7 Strong understanding of proteomics, molecular biology, genomics and of bioinformatics concepts,
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrated skills with RNASeq-to / from-proteomics workflows using R, Python, MS-STATS and related tools, \xc2\xb7 Proficiency in data analysis tools and software commonly used in proteomics (e.g., MaxQuant, Proteome Discoverer, R, Python, BioConductor),
\xc2\xb7 Expertise in mass spectrometry data analysis, protein identification, quantification and statistical analysis,
\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 2 years of experience in proteomics data analysis and bioinformatics,
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of non-mammalian biology, model organisms, parasites and microbiome proteomics is an asset,
\xc2\xb7 Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize analysis workflows,
\xc2\xb7 Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team,
\xc2\xb7 Excellent organizational skills, \xc2\xb7 Ability to work independently,
\xc2\xb7 Attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity,
\xc2\xb7 Committed to high standards of service to clients,
\xc2\xb7 Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written).

Additional information

Status : Temporary, Full-time
Pay Scale: Commensurate to experience / $47,320.00 - $87,887.80.
Work Shift: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays
Work Site: Glen site (1001 D\xc3\xa9carie, Montreal)
