As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Protein Buyer to join our purchasing team, with a focus on protein and value-added products such as pizza toppings, deli meats, and chicken wings.

Position Overview

The Protein Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing protein products to ensure competitive pricing, strong supplier relationships, and reliable inventory levels. You will play a key role in keeping our customers supplied with the high-demand protein and specialty items that drive their menus and businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase and manage protein categories including beef, poultry, pork, seafood, and value-added items (e.g., pizza toppings, chicken wings, deli meats). Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, processors, and manufacturers. Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain issues to ensure competitive buying. Work closely with the sales team to match customer demand with purchasing decisions. Track inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse to maintain product freshness and availability. Negotiate contracts and pricing to maximize value for the company and customers. Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food purchasing or protein procurement (distribution or foodservice background preferred). Strong knowledge of protein markets, supply chains, and value-added food products. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills. Strong attention to detail with solid organizational and time-management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing/ERP systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
