The Role: Proposal Manager

About you:

We are seeking an accomplished Proposal Manager to partner with Svante\xe2\x80\x99s scientists and engineers and help deliver high-impact breakthroughs in carbon capture research, development and demonstration. The Proposal Manager specializes in creating and preparing company proposals, ensuring timeliness and accuracy. The position helps identify funding opportunities, oversees the preparation and submittal of proposals and applications, and participates in the negotiation and facilitation of the award and funding agreements. The role works with internal team members within Business Development, Government Affairs, Project Delivery, Finance and Accounting, Funding Administration, and within our Technical teams.
You combine a scientific, engineering or professional background with program management expertise and excellence in technical written communication. Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian federal funding bodies and regulations is a key asset, and you have a demonstrated track record of delivering successful proposals.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Manage applications for funding programs and grants from federal funding bodies in the United States and Canada, including the U.S. Department of Energy.
  • Lead proposals and applications, write grants, and work with the Funding Administration function throughout the entire application and award lifecycle, from receipt of qualified leads, RFIs, RFQs or RFPs through to final application submission.
  • Assist with the negotiation and contracting process of successful awards or grants.
  • Work with the business development team and funding administration group to identify funding and grant programs and assist in down-selection of appropriate targets for Svante.
  • Develop strong technical and commercial working knowledge of Svante\xe2\x80\x99s solutions and product offerings to ensure high quality, successful applications and alignment of funding opportunities with Svante\xe2\x80\x99s business plan.
  • Create relationships and manage interface with target clients and application consortium members to maximize number of successful awards.
  • Support and coordinate technical reports to funding/grant bodies during post-award period in line with Funding Administration requirements.
  • Assist the Funding Administration and Finance teams in preparation of application budgets.
  • Provide oversight of final proposal production, including publishing, proofreading, editing, and communication.

Key Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience in an Industrial environment, National Lab or leading academic institution where you have successfully managed proposals.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a technical, scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Excellent technical written communication skills.
  • Project management, managing budgets/research programs.
  • A thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to confidently interact with all levels of the organization and externally.
  • Driven towards results through working effectively with others.
