The Lac Ste. Anne Metis Community Association ("LSAMCA") is an organization established to represent the independent, self-governing Lac Ste. Anne Metis community whose traditional territory encompasses west central and northwest Alberta, inclusive of the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains. With a strong sense of self-determination and cultural identity, and the recent recognition of our rights by the Province of Alberta, LSAMCA is focused on honouring the independent spirit of our ancestors while ensuring the wellbeing of future generations.

LSAMCA provides direct supports to its members through investments in education, training, housing, and other social programs and services, funded in part through our involvement in sustainable economic development activities. We actively protect and advance our community's section 35 Metis rights and interests, including through participation in consultation and regulatory engagement processes and community-led stewardship initiatives.

OVERVIEW:



The

Property Manager / Housing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and administration of residential properties for Lac Ste. Anne Metis Community Association ("LSAMCA"). This role ensures tenants receive high-quality housing services, units are well-maintained, and all operations comply with applicable housing and tenancy regulations. The successful candidate will balance administrative responsibilities with involvement in tenant relations, financial oversight, and operational management to ensure safe, secure, and welcoming properties.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



Property & Tenant Management

Manage day-to-day operations of housing units, including tenant onboarding, lease administration, and occupancy management. Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing inquiries, complaints, and conflict resolution in a timely and professional manner. Foster positive tenant relations and support initiatives that promote resident community engagement and satisfaction.
Operations & Maintenance

Oversee tenant selection, lease agreements and renewals, and tenant relations. Oversee move-in/move-out inspections and ensure units are prepared for occupancy Conduct regular inspections to ensure tenant compliance with all internal policies. Support marketing efforts and maintain a waitlist, where applicable.*
Coordinate preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, inspections, and vendor services to ensure properties remain safe, functional, and compliance. Supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Financial Administration

Administer rent collection and security deposits. Prepare and manage property budgets, track expenses, and ensure timely payment of invoices. Assist with financial reporting and recommend cost-saving or revenue-enhancing strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management

Implement, and monitor housing policies, procedures, and records. Ensure compliance with housing regulations, tenancy legislation, and organizational policies. Maintain accurate records of occupancy, lease agreements, and regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial funding and financing agreements Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
Strategic & Administrative Support

Supports and assists the Housing Committee with carrying out their duties and responsibilities. Coordinates the review of the Terms of Reference for the Housing Committee in accordance with the Housing Policy. Contribute to identifying and implementing administrative process improvements. Support housing-related initiatives, programs, and activities in collaboration with other departments. Prepare reports and presentations to support Housing Committee decision-making.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:



Post-Secondary Certificate(s) or Diploma in Administration, Property Management, Building/Property Maintenance, or a related field preferred. Professional designation, such as CPM, RPA, ARM, or equivalent considered an asset. Minimum 2 years' experience managing housing properties, having done so in rural areas considered an asset. Working knowledge of CMHC housing programs. Working knowledge of Alberta's tenancy laws including the Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS), housing regulations, and compliance requirements. Experience using property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar) considered an asset. Experience preparing budgets, financial reports, and tracking property-related expenses.

PROFICIENCIES:



A comprehensive and progressive understanding of the aspirations of Indigenous communities and demonstrated modeling of cultural awareness and sensitivity. High level of integrity and professionalism including as pertains to handling confidential or sensitive information. Excellent record-keeping and documentation abilities. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and manage workload and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong team player with excellent team building skills. Effective written and oral communications skills to effectively deal with a Housing Committee, LSAMCA staff and external service providers. Demonstrated modeling of tenant relations and conflict resolution. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to manage high-pressure or emergency situations related to property management. Ability to work flexible hours. Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle. Successful completion of a clear criminal record check. Demonstrated modeling of customer service and conflict resolution.
