Description
Our client is looking to hire a Property Accountant to oversee daily accounting functions for an expanding real estate portfolio. This opportunity suits a seasoned property accounting professional with solid technical expertise who is ready to advance to the next stage of their career.
In this role, you will manage full-cycle accounting responsibilities, support financial reporting, and help drive process enhancements. You will collaborate closely with senior accounting leadership, property managers, and finance teams to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Support full-cycle accounting for assigned properties within a diverse real estate portfolio
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Assist with monthly financial reporting and variance analysis
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Assist with lease accounting, tenant recoveries, and related reconciliations
Utilize Yardi for invoice processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Assist with system enhancements, data clean-up, and accounting process improvements
Maintain accurate and well-organized accounting records and documentation
Work closely with property managers and internal finance teams to support operational needs
Support senior accountants during audits, lender reporting, and CMHC reporting
Respond to accounting-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner
What You Must Have
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within property management or real estate
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting fundamentals
Hands-on experience with Yardi or a similar property accounting system
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
