Property Accountant

Tribe has an immediate opening for a Property Accountant [part-time, temporary] to join our accounting team at our Delta location. This role will be managing a portfolio of properties to responsibly and efficiently addressing the needs of our customers while providing them with timely and reliable financial information enabling them to maintain stronger communities. This position is contract based with the possibility for extension. There is also some scheduling flexibility for this role, to be determined in consultation with the hiring manager.

Job Responsibilities

1. Providing financial reporting that is accurate, timely and to the satisfaction of the
customer by:

  • ensuring that the financial information in your portfolio is accurate and complete;
  • following internal procedures and practices to be compliant with the Strata Property Act and other governance bodies as applicable.
  • preparing financial statements and monthly financial reporting packages;
  • preparing bank reconciliations for your assigned portfolio;
  • preparing accrual/adjusting entries and assisting in annual year-end procedures;
  • responding to financial and accounting enquiries from Community Managers and councils;
  • assisting the Community Manager with budget preparations and year end balancing as required;
  • assisting the Transition Accountant with the on-boarding process of new developer or transition properties;
  • assisting with Accounts Receivable/ Accounts Payable for your assigned portfolio;
  • reconciling and filing GST remittances;
  • fulfilling audit information requests (individual and Trust);
  • providing financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as requested;
  • performing additional duties as assigned from time to time by Tribe.

Working Relationships
  • Reports to the Controller;
  • Takes direction from the responsible Community Managers assigned to your portfolio.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous financial reporting (strata accounting experience is preferred);
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • strong understanding and application of GAAP and full-cycle financial statement preparation;
  • advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly with Excel;
  • exceptional organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines;
  • relentless attention to detail;
  • excellent people skills and conflict resolution skills.
