OverviewThe Property Management Team for Avison Young is on the search for our next talented property accountant to join the Team! Our newly implemented Yardi software gives opportunity to those that want to build and optimize process, as we learn and restructure through change and growth. We need a highly motivated self-starter that thrives in a deadline orientated, high output collaborative environment.Responsibilities

• Enter excel budgets into the accounting software (Yardi Voyager)
• Prepare monthly journal entries for accruals, identify discrepancies in the general ledger and prepare entries related in the reconciliation process
• Process Property Management Fees & other monthly charges
• Post monthly charges and validate monthly pre-authorized payments
• Update owner\'s bank information
• Manage automatic fund transfers
• Prepare bank deposits/ make bank deposits
• Monitor & manage cash flow requirements of the portfolio and ensure cash flow requirements are addressed, i.e. cash calls and disbursements
• Post and manage special assessments
• File GST
• Set up new buildings in Accounting Software (Yardi Voyager)
• Excel spreadsheets, inclusive of formulas
• Communicate with other departments to resolve areas of concern to facilitate timely completion of accounting and inter-department processes.
• Prepare Monthly and year-end financial statements; prepare working papers, schedules and financial statements for individual properties & portfolios
• Timely submission of reportorial requirements such as financials statements and other adhoc reports required by other departments
• Respond to queries from owners, property managers and other departments in a timely manner
• Guide and support external auditors with year-end audit requirements

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in an accounting related field of study
• Minimum of 2+ years of commercial real estate experience
• Minimum of 3+ years of full cycle accounting
• Minimum of 1+ years of financial reporting
• Can work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and cope with changing priorities
• Good communication skills verbal and written with the ability to collaborate and build relationships
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Highly proficient in Microsoft office with an emphasis on Excel
• Strong technical skills
• Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude
• Yardi Voyager experience is an asset
