Proof Cocktail Bar is seeking an experienced, hands-on
General Manager
to lead every aspect of our operation. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who leads from the floor, values structure and standards, and takes full ownership of both guest experience and business performance.
The General Manager is accountable for upholding the standards set by ownership and fostering a culture where excellence is not only expected, but believed in -- by example, training, and consistent execution.
Position Overview

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture
Lead by example on the floor and behind the scenes
Foster a positive, professional, and accountable workplace culture
Conduct daily pre-shifts, staff one-on-ones, and annual performance reviews
Ensure all staff understand and uphold Proof's service and operational standards
Hiring & Training
Personally onboard and train
all new hires
before they enter service
Deliver structured, one-on-one training covering menus, expectations, and systems
Oversee shadow shifts, performance feedback, and development progression
Conduct monthly progress check-ins with staff
Scheduling & Labour Management
Create and post
two-week schedules
with consideration for sales trends, events, stats, and long weekends
Monitor daily clock-ins/outs via POS to ensure payroll accuracy
Review and approve weekly labour reports prior to payroll submission
Ensure labour remains profitable and aligned with business goals
Financial & Profit Control
Oversee promotions, voids, and discounts through manager-only POS access
Ensure all voids and promos are tracked with clear reasoning
Review voids and promos weekly with management team
Ensure accurate tip distribution per employee agreements
Inventory & Cost Control
Oversee liquor, wine, beer, and bar inventory in collaboration with Bar Manager and AGM
Monitor inventory levels and costs weekly
Review liquor, wine, beer, and food cost reports
Facility & Asset Management
Conduct
daily walkthroughs
of the venue
Ensure timely repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness standards
Oversee execution of daily and weekly cleaning routines
Invoicing & Reporting
Ensure timely payment of all invoices alongside the Chef
Track invoices and accounts receivable using internal systems
Prepare and deliver weekly reports to Ownership and Management Team, including:
Sales
Labour
Inventory
Cost percentages
Voids & promos
Outstanding invoices and ARs
Upcoming schedules
Management Team Oversight
Lead and schedule
weekly management meetings
with clear agendas
Ensure all managers are fulfilling their roles to Proof's standards
Cross-train management team members for coverage and continuity
Social Media & Brand Support
Provide imagery and operational updates to the social media manager
Communicate upcoming events, promotions, and priorities
Security & Sensitive Information
Maintain secure records of keys, alarm codes, and safe access
Ensure all codes are unique and confidential
Never share GM-level access credentials
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience as a General Manager or senior hospitality leader
Strong financial, labour, and inventory management skills
Confident trainer, communicator, and team builder
Detail-oriented, organized, and highly accountable
Passionate about service, cocktails, and hospitality excellence
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
