The position at a glance

The Americas RISK function covers BNPP wholesale and retail banking activities in the Americas. Integrated into a group-wide RISK function, RISK Americas covers the 2nd largest regional BNPP platform worldwide. The main objectives of the RISK team are to i) advise the Bank management on the risk policy definition, ii) contribute as a "second pair of eyes" that risks taken on by the Bank align with its policies, iii) report and alert Bank Management of the status of risks to which the bank is exposed. With business-dedicated risk teams and more transversal risk practices, RISK Americas cover all types of risks from financials (credit, market, liquidity) to non-financials (model, operational, technology...) anticipating, assessing, monitoring and reporting risks at all levels; from large transactions, to portfolio, to regional exposure. With presence across the Americas to cover the various BNPP Americas activities, the teams are highly collaborative, as well as very integrated with the Group RISK function and with stakeholders from multiple business lines and functions.

In detail

The Americas RISK COO's Office team's mission is to:

  • Support the implementation, sustainability and continuous enhancement of IHC/Americas RISK management at regional and division levels on RISK activity developments.
  • Ensure oversight of RISK processes and report on RISK activities performance and risk analytics.
  • Support RISK in its transformation, automation, processes & governance.
  • Support the design, development and implementation of strategic and tactical operational services to support the IHC/Americas RISK Function.
  • Support RISK budget process and analyze financials and Headcounts evolutions
  • Support the different RISK Streams in the recruitment process.
Work Overview

Very transversal and multi-disciplinary in nature, the analyst will cover a variety of COO responsibilities in the project & transformation space and business management. He/she will support transformation and strategic initiatives of the RISK organization from a financial, people, process and project perspective. He/she will join a team of 5 (across NY and MTL) and will also collaborate with RISK consulting group at Head Office level to ensure best practices & tools sharing.

Responsibilities:
  • Independently identify issues, develop strategies to improve the team's problem solving process and proactively suggest innovative solutions
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Prepare and proactively participate in presentations and workshops
  • Perform creative and effective data analysis and stakeholder interviews
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in handling individual deliverables
  • Provide core Project Management support by understanding the overall project plan and timeframe, keeping to the defined schedule and using discretion to consider actionable next steps
Qualifications

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • 0- 3+ years in consulting, strategy / corporate development, banking, finance prior to business school, or demonstrated interest in financial services and consulting
Required Competencies:
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to respect deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • A keen intellectual curiosity and sense of drive
Preferred qualifications:

  • Internship experience within financial services and/or consulting preferred
