Job Description

Adams Lake Indian Band is seeking Projects Site Supervisor for a fixed term of one (1) year to work under the direction of the Adams Lake Band's Senior Projects and Funding Officer. The individual's main responsibilities will be to oversee on-site delivery of Adams Lake Indian Band projects for the Health & Wellness Departments. This position supervises renovations, new construction, and infrastructure upgrades from feasibility and design through construction and closeout.


The incumbent acts as the primary on-site liaison with contractors, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring all work is performed safely, on time, within budget, and to specification. The Projects Site Supervisor manages multiple work sites simultaneously, monitors quality and compliance, and provides regular progress updates and recommendations to the Senior Projects and Funding Officer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures Supervise all aspects of on-site work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, finishes, flooring, ground preparation) and ensure conformance to engineered drawings, specifications, codes, and quality standards. Conduct daily inspections, maintain site logs, and ensure timely rectification of deficiencies. Monitor multiple work sites concurrently, adjusting schedules and resources to maintain progress. Enforce workplace safety protocols, conduct hazard assessments, and ensure regulatory and environmental compliance on all project sites. Coordinate sequencing of trades and subcontractors; review plans with engineers, architects, and the Senior Projects and Funding Officer to resolve constructability issues. Act as primary point of contact for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants on site. Procure materials and equipment, process purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, and escalate supply delays. Track contractor performance, enforce contract deliverables, and manage change orders and variations. Provide regular status reports, site observations, risk logs, and recommendations to the Senior Projects and Funding Officer. Engage other staff as directed, ensuring transparency about site work and schedules. Monitor site costs, labour hours, and material usage; maintain records of invoices, purchase orders, change orders, and as-built drawings. Assist in preparing cost estimates and cost tracking for project phases. Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS



Red Seal, project management, and/or building certification and/or equivalent trade/technical credentials in construction management or a related field. Proven experience supervising building projects (new construction, renovations, infrastructure). Strong working knowledge across core trades and ability to read, interpret, and act on drawings/specifications. Experience managing multiple projects or sites in parallel. Familiarity with procurement, vendor management, change orders, and cost tracking. Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to juggle competing priorities. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with contractors, vendors, and community members. Respect for Indigenous culture, community relations, and local context is required. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, reporting tools) and ability to learn project tracking software. Reliability, integrity, self-motivation, and strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS




Those normally associated with on-site construction supervision:

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights. Travel to community and project sites as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS



Work performed primarily on construction sites, with occasional office time for reporting. Standard work week: 37.5 hours; flexibility may be required for project schedules. Occasional stressful situations associated with deadlines, site conditions, and multiple project demands.

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE



Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and project tracking software. Cell phone, laptop, vehicle for site visits.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and reliable transportation. Willingness to travel to project sites within the community and surrounding regions.

BONA FIDE JOB REQUIREMENTS




Current Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector clearance, with results acceptable to ALIB

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:




Full time one (1) year Fixed-Term position ending November 1, 2026


Rate of pay: $50.00 per hour


Location: Primarily IR#4 but projects may be within community and surrounding areas.


Hours per week: 75 hours bi-weekly (max 37.5 hrs./week), with flexibility in hours/days of work.
