Project Officer

Key Responsibilities Include:

Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Project Officer in the Engineering Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Capital Construction, the Project Officer is responsible for assisting in project management and coordinating capital and special projects, with particular focus on roadway construction and transportation planning/design. The position conducts technical research and produces technical reports while offering design support. This position must have expertise and a knowledge base in a wide range of Engineering, Public Works and Road Maintenance & Drainage activities such as project administration, contract preparation and management, and budget and asset management. The Project Officer is responsible for practical application and knowledge related to utility installation, relocation and maintenance while possessing well developed project management, organizational, technical and interpersonal skills. Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another Municipal Services related engineering field is required. Formal training in Project Management or Construction Management of Municipal Infrastructure design and construction would be considered an asset.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is required. Applicants with a C.E.T. designation or working towards a P.Eng. will be considered at a *developmental\xe2\x80\x9d level or for other available opportunities (see total rewards section for more information).
  • Five (5) years of related experience is required. Specific focus will be towards applicants with experience in design, construction and project management of roadways within both urban and rural settings.
  • Strong administrative, written and oral communication skills are required. Must possess well developed project management, organizational, technical and interpersonal skills while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess practical application and knowledge related to utility installation, relocation and maintenance.
  • Must be proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Some database and AutoCAD experience would be preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Alberta driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
The total rewards package for this position includes:

A starting annual salary of $73,318 to $110,884 (commensurate with education and experience; *developing candidates may be considered at a lower salary) based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
